He became friendly with Paris Hilton, dated models, played the numbers game and even held Joe Francis of "Girls Gone Wild" at gunpoint. <br /> Riley's life was one of total decadence and greed, hypocrisy and vulgarity. Mark Ebner is able to give us a look at his life which he built from interviews and oral history. We see a twisted Hollywood in its nakedness and as a vision of hell. We see the "pretty people" as not so pretty. Ebner goes beneath the surface of Tinsel town and shaves off the fluff and we meet an unbelievable cast of characters. <br /> Ebner has done his research well and he presents it to us with vibrant character and a non-fiction plot that is full of twists and turns. Outrageous and Fascinating

Hollywood is famous for being the home of the motion picture industry but it is also famous for its club scene where drug dealers mix with celebrities and money is everywhere. It is the land of sex, drugs and violence. I mean, what did I expect? To be honest, it was a challenge for me to get through this book. What I found most annoying about this book is that the author relishes the self-absorbed decadence of himself and his subjects, and then tries to turn around and act like there is some lesson to be learned from it all. There isn't. It's just superficial nonsense. Though, to the author's credit, he does admit that Hollywood is a place where people are trapped in their high school days, where it's all a trivia popularity contest. In fact, that one insight was perhaps the only redeeming thing I found in this book.
